Post-Operative Physical Therapy in Norwood

Discussing Patient History

What is Post-Operative Rehabilitation

After surgery, it’s common to experience a wide variety of symptoms including pain or discomfort, swelling, decreased strength, reduced mobility, and an impaired ability to function at pre-surgical levels. Physical therapy can help improve your pain levels and decrease swelling, improve your mobility and strength, and help you return to your normal daily activities, which may include advanced tasks such as sports.

Types of Treatment for Post-Operative Rehabilitation

At Powered Up Physical Therapy, you will first receive a thorough initial evaluation after your surgery, which will include a discussion of the history of your injury or condition as well as a physical examination to determine your range of motion, strength, movement patterns, posture, etc. Based upon the findings of your evaluation, your physical therapist will use their clinical expertise and the best evidence available to devise a treatment plan for you.

Treatment plans may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, posture and ergonomic education, neuromuscular re-education, gait training, or other services to help you achieve your goals. Your physical therapist will work with you and collaborate with your surgeon to ensure that you reach your post-operative goals.
